Wor-Wic Union Members LOVE Wor-Wic.
I love Wor-Wic because of the students and the sense of community! The amount of diversity among the student body here is amazing. I take great pleasure in teaching students from all different backgrounds and cultures. Our sense of community here at Wor-Wic is like no-other. I feel as if everyone knows everyone. The sense of community is a great thing to experience as a newer faculty member.

I am grateful to have engaged and interesting students who care about their education. Every day brings a new example of the amazing talent in them!

I love teaching adults striving for a second chance to improve their lives. WWCC students are the best, and my job allows me to make a difference in my community by helping students change their futures! I see the union as a vehicle for policy improvements that will ensure that ALL faculty have an environment that lets them thrive so that their students can, too!

I love Wor-Wic for so many things. I love the students, the activities we have, the events, dolphins, my department chair, my department, and the fact that my classes have 15-year-olds and 60-year-olds. I love my colleagues, our curriculum, our administration—all of it!

I love Wor-Wic because I strongly believe in Wor-Wic’s mission. I know we are improving the lives of students and their families here on the Eastern Shore. Our students are the BEST and they deserve the best! So I joined the faculty union to help Wor-Wic attract and retain the best faculty by improving working conditions for everyone.

I love Wor-Wic because it is the honor of my professional career to work with our diverse student population. It gives me such joy to equip developmental readers and writers with the skills and confidence they need to go on to be successful. I love that our students come from all over the world and right here on Delmarva. I love that they range in age from dually enrolled high schoolers to traditional college freshmen to those returning to pursue their dreams later, even as senior citizens! I love the diversity in race, culture, gender, LGBTQ status, religion, disability status, and life experiences. We learn so much from each other in my classrooms! I feel like if a day goes by and only the students learned something, I did not do my job as well as I could have. That's not a typical day, though, because most often, we are ALL lifelong learners in a space where each of us brings wisdom and insight to class discussions. We are better together. Go Fins!

I love Wor-Wic because of the invaluable contributions to our community. It helps improve the lives and lifts up so many members of our community who's many daily challenges do not allow them to go to a 4-year institution. I am a WCCFA member because I believe more can be done to improve the lives of the faculty here at Wor-Wic by providing better and more equitable working conditions.

I love Wor-Wic because of our diverse students who bring a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences into my classroom. Their unique voices, energy, and passion create a vibrant learning environment where we all grow together. This diversity not only deepens our classroom environment and discussions, but also helps me see life in new ways. Our students continually challenge me to grow, not just as an educator, but as a learner myself; they teach me just as much as I strive to teach them.

I love watching and facilitating that 'lightbulb' moment for a student, whether it is understanding a new concept, mastering a tricky technique, or simply making a connection that wasn't there before. Plus, I get to help students realize their dreams and be their best selves. I joined this organization to resist the dual vectors of bureaucratization/homogenization and commercialization/privatization of education in this country.
